Finally, we're up to date! February, 2010

So, my plan is to attempt to blog on Sundays from now on.  Maybe not every Sunday, but I'm planning to do shorter, more frequent blogs.  I'm sure I have left something out of these last blogs.  We'll see how my plan works.....

Anyway, I can't believe February is so close to being over.  And I can't believe that Natalie is 5 months old today!  This time last year we were just announcing that we were going to have a baby!

We had to take her back to the doctor this morning, and wouldn't you know....she has another ear infection.  We have caught it early, though, and she's still pretty happy and easygoing, just is having trouble sleeping at night.  Here we go with more medicine!

Here are some February highlights:

Natalie can hold her bottle!

We have started rice cereal and she loves it!

Here are Gram and Grampa with Natalie in the Valentine's Day outfit they got her.

Mam-ma came and stayed with us for a few days last week and we had such a great time!  We played and shopped and ate lots of food and baked banana bread and made Valentines with Natalie's footprints on them.  Mam-ma kept Natalie for us while Darran and I went out to eat for Valentine's day.
We hope Mam-ma comes back soon!  We had a blast!

Here is Natalie with Daddy and the roses that he got her for Valentine's Day

Here are the tulips he got for me.

And here is Natalie after her bath last night with a fabulous hair-do!

OK, I couldn't just pick one picture.....

Before I end this blog, I'd like to dedicate it to my husband, Darran.  Hopefully this won't embarass him!  If I have spoken with any of you lately, I'm sure I've told you how wonderful he is, but in case I haven't, I will now.  He's the best husband in the whole world!  He has been working many extra hours at work lately (jobs that he is enjoying, but that are keeping him at the office a lot more than usual).  I know he must be exhausted, but he still manages to help me cook, clean, feed Natalie, change her diapers, bathe Natalie, and even gets up in the night when she has had trouble with her ears lately.  I cannot thank him enough for all he does to take care of me and Natalie. I have been so blessed! I love you, Darran!  Happy Valentine's Day! ( a little late!)

Let's Catch Up! - January, 2010

January was also a very busy month for us, but a much sadder one for my family.  We lost my Mammy (pictured in a previous blog in our 5-generation picture), and also my Uncle Scott.  Both were very special people in my life and will be greatly missed.  I have so many wonderful memories of our family together and they each have left a hole in our lives that can only be filled with sweet memories.

Here are a few pictures with captions - mostly of Natalie - to show how much she has grown.

Natalie - 4 months old

Natalie is rolling over from front to back very quickly now, and can roll from back to front with a little help.  She is making all kinds of noises and squeals and laughs a lot.  She is such a happy baby and has been such a blessing in our lives!

Darran and I went to the Brad Paisley concert in January.  It was a birthday gift to me from Darran!

Here's Natalie in her jumper with her hands in her mouth - a scene we see often these days!  She loves to jump and she loves to put things in her mouth!

Her 4-month shots didn't seem to phase her!  Here she is with her little band-aids on her legs!

Here is Lily "babysitting" - Ha Ha!

Towards the middle of January, Natalie got her first cold and a double ear infection.  Before it was all over, Darran and I were sick too.  Natalie made such a pitiful face when she took her antibiotic!

The weekend of Darran's birthday we travelled to Dean and Michelle's in Ft. Gibson.  This was Natalie's longest car ride and she did great - mostly slept the whole way!  She also enjoyed watching her first basketball games.  Brianna and Caden both had ballgames that weekend.  We also had some family pictures taken while we were there.  Here are a few of our favorites.

So glad that we had these pictures taken!  Great idea, Granny and Michelle!  Thanks to Dean and Michelle for having us over to their house!

Let's Catch Up!! - December 2009

We have been very busy these last couple of months, so I've been a terrible blogger!  But we are getting back into the swing of things and now I'd like to catch everyone up on our lives!

December was very busy, not only because of the holidays, but I also went back to work the week of Christmas!  For those who don't already know, I am working part-time now, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so that I can spend more time at home with Natalie.  This opportunity has been such an answered prayer and has allowed me to have a much better balance in my life.  I am enjoying my 3 days at work, catching up with coworkers, and treating patients, and I'm loving my 4 days off with Natalie.  Those 4 days off are even more busy than the days I work though!  But it's great!

Natalie's first Christmas was exciting, to say the least.  Christmas Eve Blizzard 2009 left us snowed in at my parents on Christmas Eve and part of Christmas Day.  We had so much fun opening presents with Natalie and enjoyed seeing Mom and Dad, Mam-ma, and Brian and Toyie.  The guys were busy using tractors to clear the snow and check cattle and help stranded cars on the highways while the gals stayed warm in the house! I have never seen snow blow the way it did on Christmas Eve.  We could barely see the barns behind my parent's house for the blowing snow and we had an emergency rescue of my parent's cats that were snowed-in inside their little houses on the back porch!

We had a great time with my family, then headed to Duke (thanks to Mam-ma allowing us to borrow her pickup because our car was snowed-in in my parent's driveway!)  Luckily everyone made it to Duke safely- Larry and JoAnna, Dean and Michelle, Brianna and Caden, Granny, and Russ and Denise.  We also had the chance to visit Darran's Grandma Mickey in Mangum. It was great to see everyone and open presents with Natalie and her cousins.

Here are a few pictures from December:
